Do you ever get that sunken feeling when nothing seems to be going your way? Maybe you're having trouble with your love-life or stuck in a dead-end job. Or, perhaps, you never seem to have enough cash to enjoy life’s pleasures. Well, fret not because help is at hand in the form of the ancient Chinese art and science Feng Shui (pronounced Fung Shway).
Feng Shui, which actually means wind and water, has been around for thousands of years and is today recognised and practiced in many households and businesses. Its belief is that the energy around you affects your relationships, health, success and general wellbeing. Its purpose is to produce a harmonious balanced environment.
Feng Shui works with placement, position, location and colour and has a major interest in de-cluttering. So, by positioning or relocating items in your home or workplace you can influence the energy forces around you and create the changes you require, improving your life.
A Feng Shui practitioner uses a map called a Bagua to reposition your items. The Bagua houses nine squares in three rows and each square represents a life-path, such as Wealth and Prosperity, Fame and Reputation, Love and Relationships and six further categories. These squares have individual colours, shapes and elements. Although Feng Shui is usually applied to a house, you can use it anywhere - in a garden, a room, a work-area etc.,
You can buy DVDs or Books to familiarise yourself with Feng Shui and apply it to your life or you can find a Feng Shui practitioner who will help apply art for you.
| Feng Shui focuses on the positive aspect of ‘chi’, when the ‘chi’ energy is blocked or feeble it can cause havoc in your life. Feng Shui works on correcting the imbalance of energy around you. This is done by restoring the balance of the Yin and Yang. You’ve probably seen the Yin and Yang symbol, which is a circle encasing two thick swirls in black (Yang) and white (Yin) with two corresponding spots within them. According to Chinese beliefs these two elements work together to control the universe. When there is an imbalance in the Yin and Yang in your surroundings you may suffer hardships in your life. Feng Shui will balance these two opposite energies to generate peace, happiness and harmony. |
